Introducing 'Self Serve' System

DeltaNet has worked with South Yorkshire Police for over 5 years to build a range of bespoke e-learning programmes. In 2007 South Yorkshire police rolled out the Oracle Talent Management application to all staff along with a new set of business processes and procedures for their staff performance appraisal system. The project involved a completely new way of working for all employees, and was linked to performance related pay reviews.

South Yorkshire Police considered their options for providing training for the new system, and decided that e-learning offered the most economical and educationally effective solution available. Two versions of the e-learning course were delivered; one for all employees and one targeted at line managers. In total, the two programmes contained ninety minutes of interactive learning material. Business scenarios and case studies were used to treat the business processes and procedures.

'Show me', 'let me' and 'assess me' style interactions were used to simulate the IT application and covered user system interventions and touch points.

Several short modules were developed, allowing learners to study the whole programme for initial training and then revisit short tutorials for refresher training when they came to use the new system.
